Screen going black when transitioning.

I've had my S4 for almost a month now and the other day I started having an issue. When I use my multi tasking to switch apps the transition is no longer a smooth zoom. Part of my screen goes black before the app loads.
I went into developer settings and changed Window transition all the way to 10x and about halfway through the transition part of the screen just goes black. It's not a huge deal but it's just odd how it wasn't doing this before and I've used other S4s that don't do it. I've also done a factory reset and it still does it. Wouldn't that mean it's a hardware issue? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Experiment with moving the transition back from 10x and see if that does anything.

What happens at 1.5x? 0?

I've tried all the settings and it still happens. If transitioning animation is turned off its fine because it doesn't actually do the zoom in on the app. It's just weird that it just started happening.
