Help Screen Light Up Upon Receiving Text?

I've seen this question asked for other phones, but I'm not sure if the interface/settings are different for the Note 2 so here we go:

Anyone know how I can get the screen to light up when I receive a text?

I understand that it saves power for it not to, and there is an indicator light, but I wear headphones a lot, and I depend on the whole screen lighting up otherwise I will definitely miss the text.

mine always does and wish it didn't as its a waste of battery for me.

Hi

Well, mine screen does light up for about a second when I receive a text using messaging, but if I change to using Hangouts for messages it doesn't. If I untick notifications in the notification settings in the messaging app, then it does not light up on receipt, but of course the led does not flash either (and no sound/vibration)

msuey, Rhuematoid, you dont say what models of phone you have, I wonder if the lighting up is particular to international GT-N7100 and different on some US models?

Yes, I think that probably helped stop it, but I suspect if it does not happen its a "feature" of your ROM Which carrier/phone version do you have?

I thought the screen lighting up for incoming text was normal. I remember many of us using an app to make it stop.

By any chance do you have power saver enabled?

Hi, it used to light up when I received a text and then when I updated the software it quit doing it.

Power-saving is off.
