Root Screen Lock

To start I'm running:
Froyo, FlyX, Beesley Build Edits, No themes (yet), LauncherPro (no Plus yet)

The Problem I'm running into is probably super simple but I can't figure it out.

On 2.1 I was using the pattern lock to lock my phone. When using the pattern lock, there was no slider lock involved. They seemed to be separate processes.

Now if I enable pattern lock, I first use the slider then I get the pattern lock screen.
OR
I disable the pattern lock but so goes the slider lock...

I'd really like to be able to use just one or the other. Not both or neither...

For now I'm just using the top hard button as my screen locker.

Any suggestions? Anybody else have similar issues?

I have run into the same problem using widgetlocker. I think that is either a feature of blur or something that has not yet been added to the 2.2 build avail or it was taken out.
Wish I could help but I think right now we are out of luck.
