Help Screen Locks when screen turns off

Hi, I have been having a problem ever since I updated my android phone to the latest version 4.4.2 .. I have set my screen to turn off after 30 seconds and my screen to lock 5 minutes after the screen turns off. This was working fine for many months now and just a few days ago when i ran the update the phone now locks immediately after the screen turns off. I tried to change the settings and change it back but no luck ... so the screen turns off after 30 secs and then it locks immediately.. this is very annoying .. Is anyone else having this problem and if so what can be done to fix this.
