Help Screen mirroring has been disabled

rossgetty

Lurker
Recently when I try to connect my S3 to my TV via my dongle it gets to the 'connecting' screen then I get an alert on my phone saying 'Screen Mirroring Has Been Disabled'.

It could have coincided with the recent update but I can't be sure.

I done a Google search but found nothing relating to this problem, any help would be greatly appreciated.

in my case it was due to root and unofficial status i was able to fix it due to not having knox the first time around but the fix meant to allow kies to do its thing and update mybootloader to knox and rom, unrooted full stock.

I had this happen when I updated my other Note 2. I took my phone & hub to the Samsung kiosk at Best Buy & walked out with a bricked phone. The Samsung people said it was due to the update not fully installing & they tried to overlay it with no luck.
I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you but I do believe, especially after reading your post, that it has everything to do with the 4.3 update. There's $100 down the drain! :-/

This update has been a kick in the head to everyone it seems :( especially the non-enthusiasts who didnt really know not to take it.
Thankfully i dont and never will put any samsung software on what is actually an excellent phone without it.
I had to laugh at a dude on g+ though.. he uses android sites, roots and custom roms his phone, should be knowledgable yet he took the 4.3 update to see what it was like then tried to downgrade to 4.1.2 to root again (dont even try to roll back from 4.3 TouchWiz peeps!) And now he's bricked his phone, while on vacation, just in time for xmas :banghead:

Same problem here with my gs4. Everything points to allshare cast/Samsung link not working with rooted devices. There are alternatives though

I couldn't get Imedia and Twonky to recognise my Samsung TV at first but Playto found it no problem. After playto had found it the others picked it up fine. I'm sure there are other alternatives but these are the only three I've tried.

I am not rooted & use the hub bec I don't have wifi at home. It looks like those apps require wifi, which would do the same thing as Chromecast. Or am I not understanding correctly?

After my first experience with the update & all of the complaints about the 4.3 update I don't plan to update either. But geez that notification is annoying & it won't go away!

Root and install a custom recovery :D
Flash a proper 4.3 rom with no samsung in it ;)

Yeah it's the same principle but I think Chromecast only mirrors streamed online content whereas the others will also mirror videos saved to your device.

I had the same problem, after connecting screen share being disabled. But then I found this app which patches that bug

Hopes this helps guys

My phone would not take the patch above - it said my mine was already up to date. I have that same issue on occasion. Honestly, I just reboot the phone, and it seems to work fine again.
