Help Screen mirroring

I'm attempting TV screen mirroring via cable and a Samsung Micro USB 11Pin MHL 2.0 to HDMI Adapter. I've swapped this out with a cable connection I normally use to mirror my MacBook Pro so I know it normally works that much.

I've tried the MHL to HDMI unpowered and powered but the Note 3 finds no TV.

Any ideas?

Mine works fine with my Galaxy Nexus, but no luck with the N3. I see a different version on Samsung's website in the list of compatible accessories, but I have no idea what the difference would be. Other than the color and shape, obviously.

The MHL 2.0 is the one I have which I think is the latest. It's the one at the end of your link. No luck with getting it working. :(

Was about to order one of these. In another thread I started, pretty sure that is all that people used.

planned to use my Samsung 50% code on it since they don't have n3 specific smart docks
 
I have been trying to use this feature by using wifi to display photo on my Sony Bravia TV. It worked for sometime and then it stopped. Now when I press screen mirroring icon it does't show the TV in the list of devices. I have tried refreshing but it does't detect the TV anymore.

The Note 2 smart dock will work with the Note 3. Look it up in Youtube. ;)

If the connection is not working, try to remove and reinsert the MHL adapter. If there is still an issue, remove the MHL adapter, reboot the phone and try again.

If that still doesn't work, then there could be something wrong with the adapter. Make sure it is an 11-pin connector and not the 5-pin connector. The 11-pin connector head is different in shape. It should not look like a standard microUSB head. If it does look like a standard microUSB head, then you have a 5-pin which will not work and the cause of the issue you are experiencing. In this case you will need a 5-pin to 11-pin adapter. You can find one for cheap on eBay.

I have not had any real issues using the Note 2 with the 5-pin to 11-pin adapter+MHL+HDMI to PC Monitor, TV and HT projector. As well as the Smartdock. Granted, there are times where it will flake out on me, but a simple reboot tends to fix that.

That means you have the standard 5-pin connector. It is not an 11-pin connector. You will need a 5-pin to 11-pin adapter if you want to have the Note 3 mirror the screen.

Here's an image of what the heads look like. As you can see they are different.



And for those wondering why: this 11-pin configuration allows both USB OTG and MHL to work together simultaneously (ie. Samsung Smartdock). The 5-pin only allows you to connect MHL or USB OTG only. They cannot be used simultaneously together. I find this a much added benefit as I can use it as a mini backup system (keyboard, mouse, USB hub, external HDDs, flash drives, etc with output to a monitor).

The drawback is that the 2A charger is not sufficient to charge the Note 2 (powering the MHL connection/USB though Smartdock). Even with a powered USB hub connected, the Note 2 will still lose charge when connected. Albeit not a huge drain, but it will still drain the battery good.
 
Yep, you're right- mine is the 5-pin.
