Screen no longer turning off, only dimming

My Eris has been working fine with the screen timeout. It is set to go off at 1 minute. But since last night, it's only dimming the screen now. It will not turn off unless I press the end call button. It hasn't been doing that, so I'm not sure what's going on.

That happened to me before. I turned the phone off and on again and the problem went away.

Mine doesn't seem to time out if it's plugged in. But if it's not plugged in, I always use the End/Power button to shut the screen off. It's fast, and it saves a bit of battery in the process
