Screen Not Rotating.

I've searched around but I cannot find an answer, I'm sure someone here will know.

When I switch on the phone the screen rotates as normal, browser, messaging ect. Everything is normal BUT this only works once and then it never rotates until I switch off my phone and turn it back on, then again it rotates once and gives up.

I've calibrated the accelerometer and the wee game called teeter works fine.

I have nothing fancy on the phone mainly stock apps but this one is driving me mental!

Anybody got a clue what's going wrong?

Call Orange, ...saying that they will tell you to Hard reset before they do anything, so back up... Hard reset, then if it continues call Orange, sounds like a sofware bug imo
 
Cheers Jaffa, I really hope I can sort this out without doing a full reset, It has to be software because it works once.

It's not something I use everyday so I'll probably just live with it until 2.1 comes around in the next few days(I just made myself laugh there!)

Is your phone stored in a case with a magnetic clasp. If yes, take the phone out of the case, and see if that will allow you to rotate the screen.

Do you use apps controlling your profiles like "setting profiles" or so...

Settings Profiles on my Hero caused the problem. Switch of Browser and Settings Profiles. Start browser and Settings Profiles and it worked fine for me. But as soon as Settings Profiles changes profile the problems are back. I have to changes setting in Settings Profiles but did not do that yet.

Sorry Willem I'm not really following what you are trying to say. I don't think I have a profile setting on my browser. Thanks for the advice thought, something else to try :)

I spoke to Orange and Jaffa was right, full factory reset and format the SD card, they *think* there is corrupted data on the SD card so I'll try formatting that first.

Ever the optimist if that doesn't work I'll hang on till the 16th when 2.1 comes out and hopefully that'll fix the problem.

Fixed it!

Under browser settings the sub menu "gear settings" had Google Maps I removed that and everything is fine.

No factory reset :D I am sooo happy!
