Screen off = wifi switches to data (fix here)

This is not my fix but I wanted to make sure you all knew about this: Apparently the default setting for WiFi is to turn off when your screen turns off, and switch to data. People are noticing tons of data useage they are not willingly using.

Go to Settings/wireless&network/wi-fi settings

hit your menu/edit softkey, choose advanced

Wi-Fi sleep policy then choose whichever option you want (or keep it).

I find this very helpful, as I don't want any wigets using data at home. This is most likely a power saver feature, but I'd rather have my phone burning battery two feet away from an awaiting charger than burn through my data needlessly.
