if you didnt remove both stock screen protectors then that might be your issue

when the phones fresh outta the box it has a shipping or display protector and it has a super thick stock protector, the stock one is from what ive seen installed very well and is hard to even tell its there

i believe i saw a youtube video of someone removing it if you want an idea of what it looks like
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WodxmAlBzPI

while i would possibly suggest doing it differently somehow lol, this is atleast a visual for you, as you can see in the video he has already removed the display one with the little tab on it, and hes now removing one from below that

Yep there is a super thick stock protector that affects the sensitivity by itself, I couldn't imagine putting one over it but I am sure a lot of people did. It really is hard to tell it is there. I just started a corner of mine with a pin and once you can get a grip on it pull hard and slow.

Motorola Triumph - Remove factory screen protector - YouTube

I got this triumph from ebay... don't know if it still has original screen protector on. how can I tell?

i knew the stock protector was there and put one on top of it. mainly left the stock one as to not void the warranty.

i used...
Amazon.com: 5x Motorola Triumph WX435 Premium Clear LCD Screen Protector Cover Guard Shield Protective Film Kit: Cell Phones & Accessories

...and it has not effected the screen response. i cannot say as to weather the stock one does or not but i'm betting not. it may 'feel' better for some without them and when the warranty runs out ill remove the stock one and replace it one of these by itself, but i havent had a problem.

fyi i got some tpu cases in the same order...
Amazon.com: TPU Skin Cover for Motorola Triumph WX435, Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

Amazon.com: WIRELESS CENTRAL Brand Flexi Gel SKin TPU Glove SMOKE CHECKERED PLAID Soft Cover Case for MOTOROLA WX435 TRIUMPH (VIRGIN) [WCH558]: Cell Phones & Accessories

I too put an after market screen protector on my MT, and the screen response went into the toilet. I watched a video on Youtube that explained the best way to remove the factory screen protector. I removed it because it is way too thick for my taste and hampered the touch screens sensitivity.

I replaced it with an anti-glare protector from Ebay and that really helped.

A little advice is if you buy a case for your MT, be sure to get one with recesses for the buttons. I had one that didn't have the recesses, the buttons are hard to find if you have to keep your attention elsewhere.

I am not affiliated with these sellers in any way, I do use two of these products though.

Something to add..

While using my triumph I discovered that the back plate sliding around has an affect on the touch screen as well. I would be trying to type and my Ts would be Ls and a whole bunch of weird stuff, and I discovered by sliding the back plate down and then up again would fix it until it started doing that again

Take 'em all off, works better, looks better, feels better, and you're only gonna have the phone a year or so any way. I've been without one since December, and I use the phone as a score keeper disc golfing two or three times a week out in the dirt and mud; not a single scratch or ding.

The screen works by sensing your finger by capacitance. a screen protector puts your finger further from the surface which makes it harder to type on if you cant tell if yours has the thick protector on it or not, look on the VERY EDGES of the screens glass where it meets the plastic body of the phone. look REAL close, youll see the edge of the protector and you can pick off a corner and work the whole thing off in a few minutes. the GLASS itself is gorilla glass, very hard to scratch. to be honest I see NO valid reason why the Triumph ships with a ridiculous screen protector like that. I took mine off on day 1 and never got any scratches since.

I just realized that I've been sporting 2 screen protectors on my MT for the past year... And here I always just thought the sensitivity sucked!

Thanks guys!!!

Does removing the factory screen protector get rid of the dust under the screen some people get with their triumph?

No it doesn't, unlike more modern lcd panels the touch screen isn't attached to the panel allowing dust to accumulate between them. Modern panels have them bonded together, preventing dust, reducing glare and phone thickness.
