Screen Protection.

I've read that the Note 10.1 doesn't use Gorilla Glass for the screen therefore do more experienced users advocate the installing of a screen protector? If so would the screen protector affect the functionality of the S-Pen?

Again if a screen protector is advised is there a particular make of screen protector suggested?

I have had mine for 6 months, no scratches, no protection.

There has never been any confirmation of it having or not having Gorillla Glas and I am of the opinion it does have it.

Been using PDA's and Smart Phones and Tablets 12 years. Never had a screen protector, and never a problem. Get one if you want one and don't get one if you don't.

Never bothered with a screen protector, use a decent cover/case and be careful. Not a scratch.

Im using a screen protector on gn 10.1 , and it doesnt affect of my spen funcionality at all, so im pretty sure u should buy one bcoz the risk of getting scratch with no-gorilla is possible

See this thread on scratches: Scratches on my screen!!! - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

I have had scratches on my Note 10.1 where I never got any on my ASUS TF101. I now use a screen protector, and I think I prefer it. The matte protector I got solves reflection problems. I'm suspicious of the plastic the stylus is made of.

Considering protectors are cheap and screens are expensive, and no glass can ever be perfectly resistant, I think it makes great sense as a cheap insurance to use one.

I had a screen protector put on when I bought mine at the Verizon store. I like my screens to stay absolutely pristine. I always used a protector on my SGS3 which does have Gorilla Glass.....when Verizon sent me a replacement phone when mine suddenly died I didn't have a chance to get a protector for a day or two as was travelling....wouldn't you know I briefly put the phone in my pocket and there was some change in there...boom very small scratch on the screen....

Was almost a relief when turned out that replacement phone had an issue with updating and they had to send me another...I got a screen protector on it the morning it came to the house. Just not worth it no to and so little downside- you can;t even tell I have one on my Note 101.

The stylus is DEFINITELY dodgy. Yesterday, the rubber tip of mine from wear became ever so slightly loose, and the edge of the plastic nib caught my screen and tore a rip as if I was drawing with a needle or compass!

I'm getting a screen protector for another reason. I'm tired of having fingerprints all over the sreen and I'm hoping a protector will make it esier to clean.

Only depends on what screen protector you get. Some will be easier to clean, others won't

The matte protector I use has resulted in finger grease not being an issue. I used to thoroughly clean my screen once a week. Now I don't feel the urge to clean it ever.

dont buy the belkin one, it sucks balls. its too shiny and it seems to take away overall smoothness of not having a protector.

SGP Steinhall in my opinion the absolute best screen protectors out there. Not sure if they make one for the note 10.1 though

Yeah, they make one. I have the Ultra Crystal one. Though I notice some input issues at times. Not sure if its the protector or Note 10.1. Never bothered peeling off the protector to see. Don't recommend cleaning with a shirt or anything like that. Smudges are more apparent and does have a little rainbow effect. Best thing is a microfiber cloth used to clean glasses. That cleans the screen real well. My second one because the first one had dimples in it upon first inspection (got my money back on that one).

It's okay and abused and already managed to scratch a bit of it. Mainly from S Pen doodling and stuff like that.

I have had my note 10.1 since November 2012 and I use it every day, I use my s pen approx 50% of the time.

No scratches at all and no screen protector.

I use a 360 Degree Rotating Stand PU Leather Case from ebay @

I abuse my screen. There's no doubt about that. I managed to scratch the glas.t with 8H hardness (equivalent to gorilla glass rating). So for me, a screen protector is a must. Also I sketch about an hour or two with the S Pen. And when sketching I go over the same lines over and over again. So that increases the chance of scratching the screen.

I have had a Zagg screen protector on mine since day one. It is not as "slick" as the one on my Razr, but I wouldn't be w/o one.

I prefer not to glue a screen protector on a screen that is as large as Note 10.1's. Even if I use them on a small phone, on the camera viewer and on the car's navigator. The reason is that it is very difficult to get such a large surface attached without leaving in some dust particles and some ugly bubbles. They are not bothersome on a small appliance, but they are conspicuous on a big screen. Fortunately, there is an intermediate alternative. I use on and off a clear plastic bag meant for food items and the freezer (called Minigrip in my country). I put the whole Note 10.1 within a two liter bag. Furthermore, if one has a casing for the Note, another option is to cut a suitably sized part from the bag and bend the corners behind the sleeve to keep it in place. The advantage is that there is nothing sticky, it is very easily changed and it costs next to nothing. Especially compared to the excessive pricing of the screen protector plastics.

All the best,
