Accessories Screen Protector / Invisible Shield?

I have used the ZAGG invisible shield on my omnia before. It is considerably grippy compared to the other screen protectors i have used. I would NOT recommend it for resistive screens as it does interfere with sensitivity. Because the cover is relatively thick it will deform with each press. This resulted in presses being registered on the screen longer than it was supposed to (the deformed protector would continue to elicit a pressure response from the screen even after you moved your finger). The Inc is capacitive so I don't know how this will effect its use.

The invisible shield will cure over time, but no matter what you will still feel it (the orange peel improves slightly). It is the most resistant to damage, but after over 1 year of use it did have marks and dents in it (though the screen was unharmed).

If you want the highest protection possible then go with Invisible shield. I most likely will not get it again. Because the Inc screen is fairly resistive to scratches, I will be getting a thinner protector. Because I will be using the pinch gesture and will be flicking through lists/contacts/web pages quickly, any drag will be annoying

For thin protection your most popular options are:
Boxwave Crystal Clear
Martin Fields
Clearvu
SGP

They are all thin and crystal clear. The protecter will get scratched over time so consider the need to replace them every 6months to 1 year unless you are really careful.

After much research, I will most likely be getting the Boxwave 3 pack for $30. This should last me nearly the life of the phone so I don't mind paying a little extra.

can we get some specific linkage going on? especially if there are ones specifically for the incredible available now and not just sometime in the future?

So, besides the Zagg, what other companies already have an option for the Incredible, I did not see one on the Boxwave site. I am just wondering how many companies will have one available when I get the phone.

I would say the Invisible Shield. I put them on all of my phones and they work great. The first few days it will be sticky, but after that it will go away. It DOES NOT affect the operation at all on touch phones. Most people cant even tell they are there. Granted working at Best Buy ive put on my fair share of them, but they are pretty easy to get all the bubbled out and to get a good application.

To all those that are complaining about the price, keep in mind that the Invisible Shields do come with a lifetime warranty. So if it ever scratches, dents, peels up etc, you can just log on to Zagg.com and they will send you out a new one and you send the old one back. So as long as you dont manage to lose the protector (not for sure how you would) then it should be the only one you have to buy for your phone.

hm. see, ive had invisible shield and couldn't stand it after a while.. im going to drive boxwave and the SGP protectors. I didnt like the thickness / sticky feel of the zagg.. i think I am really going to be looking for those super thin and smooth feeling covers, fingerprints or not.. after all, phones regularly pick up the fingerprints anyway.

I had a Skinomi for my Pre and it was better than the ZAGG because it wasn't as grippy and the clarity was better. It went on perfect the first time, also something I couldn't get the ZAGG to do. I had to buy the ZAGG for now until Skinomi comes out with one for the Incredible, but as soon as they put it out I'm making the switch.

Well, everyone... you can count SGPstore out for now. I emailed them last night about the Droid Incredible and here is their response.

AS MANY KNOW, THIS HAS CHANGED AND THEY'RE GETTING READY FOR LAUNCH

I have heard GREAT things about your shields. When will you have them available for the HTC Droid incredible?? I get the phone next week and would really like to have a screen protector (preferably yours) then! Are you also planning on additional cases etc for that phone? cant wait!

They have NO plans to make the shield. Time to start looking elsewhere. Lame.

Ninja, I emailed them and got the exact same email as you. DARN!! I wanted the SPG Crystal so badly..

It sounds like the Zagg is good, but I don't want any screen protector that I have to use water/solution/etc crap. I want a simple peel back and stick like SPG! So much easier to install and no drowning my beautiful new phone in crappy liquid. :)

Looks like nothing else is out there until SPG rolls around... Grrr...

What do you guys think of both the screen protectors and cases offered by Verizon right now?

they are okay... but not the best. might grab one for convenience sake until i can get my hands on a better one.. still just dont want to get a zagg.. anyone else know of a crystal clear type available for the incredible by launch date? I just might end up getting zagg anyway haha

Phantomskinz FTW. I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with them on my BB devices.

Phantom Skinz - Clear and Matte-Finish Protection Film for HTC Droid Incredible

The reviews do look good.

Just called Phantom Skinz and they don't have the template drawn up yet. They're going to wait until launch day, when hopefully they can have someone bring in their phone. The guy said they'll ship out Friday or Monday after. It'll be about a week before it gets delivered. Do phones get scratches that quickly?

If I were to buy that 3-pack from Verizon (assuming it's available at launch), I'd probably just wait until SGP gets their crap together.

I used screen protectors from Screenpatronus for my LG versa and for my digital camera and they seemed pretty decent. Good price and I think you get a pack of three. It reminded me of Harry Potter so I tried em!

They are just like all of the other companies. If they get enough requests they will make them. These are the ones I am planning on getting too. Though I may have to use the Verizon one at first if these aren't made yet.

I usually use the cheapo ones from eBay that you get for like $1 each with shipping. I have used them on cameras, my old verizon touch screen and my recent Storm 1. What is the major benifit of these "branded" screen protectors aside from the fact that i have to cut the cheapo screen to fit?

Thanks,
J

I use the verizon ones they sell in stores(yes they are overpriced) but they are easily removable and do the job. Ive used them on every touch screen phone ive had and never had an issue. You can always ask someone at the store to put it on for you if its your first time.

Checked out the Zagg page after a few of you talked about it and it impressed me enough to order one. $17 wasn't bad at all if it protects the screens that well :)

I have an Invisible Shield on my Zune and love the protection. A little sticky but then it isn't a touchscreen so I've never noticed the "break in effect" that people have talked about where it gets less so.

My question is this, will one of these "full body" shields actually stick to the soft-touch back? I'm thinking that could be a nightmare and might go w/ a screen only and then get a case for the back. I do want to be able to dock it so an easy off case would be good. What do you think about the soft touch issue? Will it stick and adhere?

I was looking at the Verizon one, and it looks like it only covers the screen and not the entire front face of the phone like others I've seen. Also, they say it has a "privacy" feature which may make it hard to view from certain angles.

Also, a quick google comes up with this no-name protector:
Amzer Universal Anti-Glare Screen Protector - Pack of 6 For HTC - HTC DROID Incredible PB31200 - screen protectors - Fommy.com

But then again, I got a great pack of 3 screen protectors for my iPod Touch for $.99 on Amazon (with $3 shipping ) that work fine.

Won't the Nexus one screen protectors work with the Incredible? Obviously not the full body protectors, just the screen.

+1 on the Phantom Skinz. I have had them on all my phones. They are crystal clear and as smooth as glass! The only way you can tell it is installed is around the edges. I don't use them so much for the scratch protection as I do to help with smudges. With PS installed, finger prints just wipe off.

The other great thing is that they send you two with your order in case you mess up the install.
