Screen protector troubles......

So I bought a XO skin because of the great reviews I've read on here about them. I took off my otterbox defender and noticed scratches on my screen around the front camera, ear speaker, LED notification area. Nothing major, but permanent scratches none the less. just was glad I decided to not use it anymore.

I went through the XO instructions, and had it on there as perfect as I could get it... then I noticed a couple of pieces of dust. pealed back the skin, sprayed a tad of the applicator spray, ran the liquid and the dust out. instructions say dry of the screen and let it sit for 2 hours. drying off with paper towel..... it catches a corner, picks up the screen protector, and now i've got tons of little white particles on the sticky side. ARG..... spray a tad of the applicator spray, push it out with the card, then i notice i must've stretched out the skin funny because it's no longer sitting correctly. peal it back, reapply, more dust under the skin.... soooooo frustrating!! I gave up. Game over man. crumpled that MF up and threw everything that came with it in the trash. I won mother f---er!!!

Ok, someone mentioned just going into the verizon store with your skin and having them put it on? can I do this with a skin I didn't purchase from them?

edit: as soon as I took this thing out of the box to put in the sim card, I put it in the otterbox defender, so i never really experienced how amazing the screen is on this thing until today. wow.... i don't want to use that case ever again! but i'm going to have to until i get a screen protector.

I just got an otterbox defender for a droid bionic. I put a regular cheap screen protector on it underneath the otterbox one. stuff can still get behind there and scratch the screen, plus, i figure a "free" screen protector will inevitably "abrade" the screen with repeated tap and release... glad your scratches are minor...

unfortunately i dont have experience with any screen protectors except the cheap vzw ones...

Send their customer service a message, they are really good about taking care of folks.

Who? XO? Well it wasn't the product that malfunctioned, it was more of a malfunction on my part. I don't really want to bother them with it.

a great trick to apply screen protectors to prevent dust is it do it in the bathroom after running the shower with hot water for a bit. the Steam will pull alot of the dust out of the air.

Other than that, patience is requires

I may try again. thanks for the shower tip. I'm in el Paso, and dust is horrible here.

Anyone have any suggestions on the best screen protector?

I have been using the VZW (installed by them in the store for me) since day one. I use the clear one, not the anti-glare. Anyway, its been flawless and relatively inexpensive. I figure they do 20 of those a day and if they screw it up, you don't leave til its right. Good luck.

PS, don't see how taking a shower with your phone keeps dust out of the air. :D Don't take any pics by mistake either...actually kindof a cool tip.

I can confirm the shower thing. Essentially, you run the shower very hot for a few minutes so that steam fills the bathroom. Keep the door closed and don't run a fan. The steam with weigh down the dust in the air. Once the dust is weighed down, you're free to install the screen protector without the dust landing on your clean screen.

You may not want to hear this, but when I researched for the best screen protector, I read that this glass is actually very good stuff, like gorilla glass, and that it doesn't need a protector. I decided to take it off, and I'm so glad I did! It's beautiful, and I haven't gotten the slightest scratch yet! This phone is just incredible!
