Accessories Screen Protector

Thx Chaos, Robo, Vegas, anyone who touched on the Realook. I think since it is not much money but highly touted, I will get right NOW

So I just checked the Dow Corning website. In it there is a page that has all of the mobile phones that have Gorilla Glass on them. One of the phones that has it is the Motorola Cliq XT. I had that phone for less than a week before I got a scratch on it. It happened simply because I had my keys in my jeans pocket with my phone.

After finding this out, I'll be installing my Gadget Guard shield I got off Ebay tomorrow. I'm not at all worried about any perceived loss in screen quality either as I've already installed one on my wife's Vibrant and there is NO difference in the way the screens look side by side comparing her's to my unprotected screen.

Can I get that 10% off code please, I think I'll give this a try :)
I can but won't be home for another 4.5 hours. If you want to order sooner, go to the xda site and look in the vibrant section for the screen protectors thread and you can get a code there.

I also have the Tmobile screen protector, and there is a distinct pixelated effect with it on. I also didn't like how it doesn't cover the bottom row of buttons. My Realook screen protector is in the mail, I will add my thoughts to this thread once I get it.

Can someone tell me how screen protectors work on capacitive touchscreens? I always thought capacitive were like bug zappers in that a fly goes into a break in the grid, completes a circuit and gets electrocuted. Isn't that what the finger does too? Maybe those are special screen protectors?

I have an invisible shield on mine, but I just ordered a real look one from ebay to give it a shot. I paid $10.99 on ebay. For some reason the zagg protector feels different that the other ones I owned before.

I also have this product...and after less than a week have quite a few very fine scratches in it..tfg its on the screen! my old samsung had a plastic screen and i wrecked it in the first month but back then they didn't make one for it :( when this one needs replacing i will put it on upside down and cover the home buttons...

looking forward to reviews on this other product...

:)

I bought two of these:

1
Samsung Vibrant Cell Phone SCREEN PROTECTOR SHIELD - eBay (item 170522308615 end time Aug-09-10 15:27:41 PDT)

and put the first one on my wife's Vibrant. I know some people are worried about screen protectors that mess up the way the display looks but after putting my naked Vibrant along side of her's with this cover, I couldn't see even the slightest difference. I also noted that the touch response was identical. There was a very slight difference as far as friction goes meaning the screen protector was not as slick as the glass, but it was negligible as far as I was concerned. I will be putting the other protector on my screen tonight.

I just bought a pack of universal screen protectors at radio shack. I believe the brand is writeright. It's not big enough to cover the whole screen. I cut it to cover from the buttons to the top of the tmo logo. its a bit less shiny than the screen, but what I like most about this one is that my fingers glide over it better than on the naked screen. it doesn't hold finger prints as much, but it does get small scratches easily, not visible when the screen is on.

Another vote for Realook. Started with the protectors from the T-mobile store to simply hold me over until I got a real one.

They were utter crap. The texture and clarity were not good.

Then I got ClearFreak. While it's the best 3M protector I've tried, the texture was not super smooth (compared to Realook) and there is an orange peel texture to it. However, if you want a 3M type protector, it's the best one I've tried. The orange peel texture is the least noticeable between Body Guardz, Phantom Skinz, Invisible Shield, Clear Protector and Best Skins Ever. The resistance is not bad, but it's noticeable and it tended to pick up my skin oils too easily.

Next is Realook. I bought this on recommendation from XDA forum users. I actually had my friend get it first. If it was bad, I'd give her my extra ClearFreak. If it was good, I'd switch over. :D

It worked out for the best. Realook is definitely the smoothest and clearest screen protector I have ever used (PET protectors are known for clarity). If not for the bubble around the speaker area, it'd be next to impossible to tell there's anything on the screen at all.

Screen sensitivity is excellent with the Realook compared to ClearFreak (and I considered the ClearFreak very good). The screen responds to the lightest touch. As with all screen protectors I've tried so far, the touch sensitive buttons are less responsive, but still reasonable. You have to "press" a slightly harder.

It does pick up fingerprints a lot more than the naked glass, but it doesn't seem to be affected by skin oil as much as the ClearFreak. Although it's still noticeable on all white screens.

Just put on my realook. Seems like a good quality protector. It comes with all the needed tools and it went on easily. Happy with the purchase. perfect fit too.

I have to say that Amazon/Realook are awesome! Ordered on the 5th and it arrived today. Haven't installed yet but looking forward to check this out.

I am using the screen protector that I bought originally for my Behold 2, it is an Amzer version, the full face protection. The full cutout from the Behold 2, including the non-display size is what I am trying to express, is the perfect width of the current display on the Vibrant, it appears to be the same length/height as well, except the rounded corners and speaker/d-pad cutouts it fits the current display area perfectly for me until I get the XtremeGUARD protector I ordered through Amazon for $2.00 which was normally $19.99. It is a wet application type, similar to what Zagg? Amzer provides excellent viewing still and my finger oils distort the image as it shines through, but can be wiped off easily with say silk cloth that I use to clean my glasses with. I am using while I wait on my order to arrive, shipped Friday. I haven't had any distortion of display from any other source then my prints. It works really well as it did with the Behold 2 as well. I hope that the XtremeGUARD works just as well as there really wasn't any reviews. I guess I could be taking the dive here so we'll see, I'll post review.

I just put a ZAGG on my Vibrant today, and I'm not really feeling it. I don't like that it has a orange peel like texture. And I really don't like that it causes friction when using swype.

My last phone was a Mototolla Cliq, I had some cheap screen protectors from Amazon that I paid $2 for shipped. Those were badass, perfectly clear, no orange peel texture, and no friction. I wish I could find those for my Vibrant.

received mine yesterday, and considering my location (san Jose, CA), it was delivered from Torrance, CA thus the quick usps delivery.

havent used it just yet (busy at work), but from the looks of it, it seems very promising.

For those interested in the discount, with permission of the board, you can pm me for the 10% off code.

Many thanks again for the heads up and the reviews. :)

just order this prior to seeing this code... :(

Call Amazon customer service give them the discount code and let them know that you forgot to apply the code to this purchase. They will give you a credit to your Amazon account for the next time you buy anything from Amazon. Call 1-800-201-7575

They are wonderful like that, I love Amazon - I'm a "Prime" member.

Good choice in screen protecter BTW.

I just applied the realooks. Love it. Two things:

I botched the first one. What happened was the side that adheres to the screen touched the microfiber cloth and a bunch of, well, microfibers got stuck to the screen. It was very noticeable. I know you can wash these and reuse them, but I put this one aside and I'll just keep it as my spare. The second one went on flawlessly.

The second thing is that mine didn't come with two protectors for the lens. (Or at least I couldn't find them.) I bought them from amazon and I'm assuming it's the same place that everyone else is getting them from.

Good business rewards itself. :)
