So this will be my first smartphone when ever it comes out. I was wondering if anyone has one of the privacy screen protectors on their smartphones now it was worth it. And if it would work just as good as a clear screen protector.
Something like this...but only for the TB
3M US: 3M Privacy Filters - Computer Monitor & Laptop Privacy Screen
Well - congrats on your upcoming first smartphone. You're in for quite a treat!
OK - my company had a policy of using these 3M filters on our laptops for when on airline travel, so I've got _a little_ experience.
In my personal opinion, I didn't like it. I took it off and either avoided my laptop in crowded situations or just avoided sensitive screens. My gripe was that while its matte surface did reduce glare, the overall deal was I kept turning up my brightness so I could see through the thing - and screen brightness with any bigger display is a battery's enemy.
That's me personally, tho.
As for those in particular - I went to the mobile page, and they specifically said:
Works with stylus displays and most resistive displays.
I don't know if that means they work that way in ADDITION to or INSTEAD of - with respect to capacitive displays.
The Bolt has what we call a capacitive touchscreen (as do basically all modern smartphones) - meaning it will react to your finger.
A resistive display reacts to hard things - like a stylus or a fingernail but not a fingertip.
If display privacy is a driving issue for issue for you, if I were in your shoes, I'd contact 3M and confirm before purchasing - and I'd be prepared to lose a few bucks here and there until you find the screen cover that's really right for you.
I tried to google up some info for you on these types of protectors for capacitive displays, but came up empty.
