Accessories Screen Protector

MikeyUK

Newbie
I've been looking for a screen protector and a pull style pouch for my new HTC Desire and have come across these two products:

Protector:
Martin Fields Screen Protector - HTC Desire

Case:
HTC Desire Pull Case - PO S520

Now as you can see, it will be costing me a considerable amount of money for just one screen protector which i could ruin in a matter of seconds so want to get the right one.

I previously had this screen protector for my ipod touch:
Power Support Anti Glare Film for iPod touch 2G - Apple Store (UK)

which worked brilliantly! It had a matt type of finnish which reduced sun glare by 80% + and made it even easier to swype the screen from side to side. And thats not all, it attracted almost ZERO fingerprints / grease / dust.

The question I have is:

Can anyone vouch for the maker of this screen protector and / or case as this would put my mind to rest when it comes to spending such an amount of money.

Thanks,
Mike.

I used an invisibleshield on my old Nokia 5800 and that was really good.

Decided to go naked with my Desire though, and it's now a year old with zero visible scratches on the screen. I'm not "that" careful with my phone anymore either. I keep it in my pocket with earphones (not keys etc) and it's taken a few falls now.

I use both items listed in the OP and have had no issues whatsoever with either. Both quality products and I've had no issues with either in the year I had both on my Desire

I don't normally use screen protectors but I would definitely buy something like this.

Reduced glare, easier to swype, zero fingerprints...sounds perfect.

It's just a shame that they only seem to make their product for apple :(

Yeah it is too bad that power support doesn't make non apple screen protectors. Ive been using their screen protectors on my ipod touch and have been very happy with them. I dont think there is anything close to them for android. Although I have heard very good things about the martin fields ones. They are the best you can get. I am currently using a case mate screen protector that came with my barely there case. Its not matte and does not provide any anti-glare to the screen but...it does provide better traction to the touch screen and also offers good protection.

As I said above, been using a MF protector since the day they were released and have had no issues whatsoever with it. Expensive (at the time) but worth every penny

Only issue I have with Martin fields (which is true on all screen protectors with me) Is I just cannot seem to apply them.

I've used Zagg screen protector on my phone for the last 12 months...never any bubbles or lifting and no loss of sensitivity on the screen.

Even though I know the glass should be ok without one, its a peace of mind thing and they offer a lifetime guarantee on the protector. I have tested this guarantee and yep they do supply a new one if you have a 'near miss' ;)

What he says, also use the Zagg and cant praise them highly enough, bit pricey but ive wasted more on disposable ones, also very easy to apply

What are the Zagg and Martin Fields like for anti-glare?

This great weather we're experiencing is turning my phone into an expensive pocket mirror.

thats what ya gotta live with wiv HTC screens,no screen protector will sort that, still plus one for Zagg, buy one and stroke screen protector off your things to do list.:)

^^^Looks like I'll have to go with that or the MF because...
Sounds great.

Just found these on eBay:

I had a Martin Fields until about 5 mins ago, I don't find it helps with screen glare at all if I'm honest. Plus I have just discovered a pretty big issue. It's become really scratched but not just scratched more like a graze across the whole screen protector and only happened this weekend. I thought it was odd so tried to think what I'd done different this weekend that I hadn't since I put it on and i've pretty much narrowed it down to sun cream!! I can only think something in the sun cream has almost eaten away at the protector. It's so bad I've had to take it off now as I couldn't see anything and the screen protector had become slightly abrasive so I couldn't even scroll. Not going to fork out for another one so I'm going to risk just not having one at all from now on.

...I bought this for the anti-glare. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it. It does reduce glare but it does it by defracting light coming out of the screen. The problem is that white light is split into its component colours so any white part of the screen turns in to a noisy, colour-pixelated mess.

A shame because it otherwise fits perfectly, doesn't affect sensitivity and gives smoother swiping. Cheap too.

Yeah i got mine today:

Pro's:
Easy application
Fits great
Easy to swipe

Con's:
Slightly affects sensitivity (nothing major and i will get over it very soon)
Slightly affects screen colours as stated above ^^

All in all for the price i love it and i will get over the con's soon enough so i can recommend them.

^^^If you don't mind the colour diffraction then it's great for the price.

I just received the Martin Fields myself. It slightly reduces sensitivity (slight lag when sliding through homescreens) which is bothering me a bit. I hope it gets better. Apart from that niggle , it's just like the screen itself.

I'll be content with the price if I get good mileage out of it.
