Screen Protectors, Who uses them?

Who uses a screen protector on there devices?
I've just had the one that came with my FT3 lift and wouldn't reset so I pulled it of to replace with the provided spare.

OMG now I know why I hate the things I just could not get it to go on strait or bubble free and now has left me with 2 questions.
1, How tough are the touch screen pannels
2, Who uses these stupid film overlays?
 
I use Zagg too. I've been using the same protector on my Droid 2 for 4 months, and it still works great! I ordered it online and installed it myself. It cost $15, but it is well worth the price. It fits the screen perfectly, doesn't detract from the image on the screen, and never comes loose. I highly recommend it if Zagg makes a protector for your device.
 
I have an EVO and I just picked up a protector at Sprint. Its scratched, so I believe that if I didn't have the protector the screen would be in bad shape.

I recommend everyone purchase a screen protector.
 
How much is your phone worth... to you???

I use a screen protector on every phone in my family... Sure, it takes a few minutes to make sure they are installed straight and with no bubbles or dust underneath- but big deal!


I too once thought I was better than a mere screen protector... until I scratched my last phone because I had something else in my hand with my phone, and the screen got scratched bad...

So, every phone has a screen protector on it now.

I second this. I have an Atrix and rather pay $15 to protect the screen then replacing the screen its self. It gets real gripy when first cleaned, but that's understandable and i can deal with that. I don't like the slippery screens, which I have, since my finger tends to slid somewhere I don't want it too.
 
I'm getting one for my Inspire, but I've had them on my Ipod Touch's. Well worth it, as they are much easier to clean, very hard to notice, and do protect the screen from SMALL scratches.

IMO it is best to have a second person with you when putting on the screen protector. My friend would use a credit card or some other flat surface to evenly press on the protector as I applied it. No bubbles at all.
 
Current smartphone screens are getting tougher and tougher. I got a galaxy s2 and i'm not using a screen protecter. A friend of mine has the galaxy s and always puts it in the same pocket as his keys. No scratches on it so far and he almost has it a year now. So why use a screen protecter, you'll only lose precision on your touchscreen.
 
I was at the mall and bought one of those GhostArmor screen protectors. It was 25$ with professional application and also came with a lifetime warranty. I pay nothing when I get a new phone/need a replacement.
 
I use a kind of wallet that my phone clips in to and then on the other 'flap' it has card holders for bank cards and such. Once folded over it protects my screen.
 
My old Hero's pretty beat up in terms of the case... Been droped more than a few times but the screen's still perfect. Not a mark on it.

When I got my Play I brought some protectors just because they came cheap with a case. Lasted about a week before I got sick of it. (Then I realised the play already comes with one. Pain in the ass to get off too, feels like your pulling the screen off it's stuck on so well.)
 
I have been using the simple protectors that come in 3-packs. Every time I walk by the Zagg booth at the mall, I realize that I need one of those. Soon... Very soon.

A scratched plastic item does not indicate the glass it was protecting would have scratched..
 
I bought the cheapest ones I found on eBay, bought 6 of them for like $2 shipped. I went through 3 of them before I got it on there right, bubble free, straight, and it's on there perfect now. The only problem I have with it now is it shows smudges like crazy, a lot worse than without the screen protector on there. I always use them though, I wouldn't take it off, I'm too worried about scratching the screen.
 
well, i still have the protective plastic on my screen that came with the LG Esteem as it shipped new :-)

so how about phones with the new gorilla glass screens like the LG Esteem? do we really need to use a screen protector with the Gorilla Glass?

i have a couple of new screen protectors waiting to be applied -- but the protective plastic that came on the phone new is still working and looking good, so i haven't removed it yet.....
 
I use them because if my phone screen were to get scratched, the screen protector would be there to protect it and it's cheap enough for me to just get another one.
I wouldn't want my phone to have a permanent scratch or dent during the two years I use it. I want it to last as long as it can in the best condition it can.
 
This is a long running debate but if you have a decent phone the only thing that can scratch your screen is sand (since it's also glass) And even that is generally rare.

Look at my Nexus 1, it's scratched all to hell on the back from keeping it in a pocket with keys and a money clip - but not a single scratch on the glass.

So while you can get scratches from sand, as long as you are a bit careful screen protectors aren't really needed. (Unless you prefer the anti-glare aspect, or feeling of it).
 
I got a body glove cover for my S2, and it came with a screen protector. I don't really like the feel, but am really paranoid about scratches. I know the phone has gorilla glass and all, but is it really as strong as every one says, or is it advertising hype?
 
Gorilla is mostly just a brand name for hardened glass -- the same ideas apply to any hardened glass.

Watch out for grains of sand and rocks, but otherwise very few things will scratch it (ie metal, like a key chain, wont scratch smartphone glass)
