Accessories Screen Protectors

Was just going to ask a similar question so I'm interested to see which screen protector is most recommended. Best Buy was pushing me towards the Zagg InvisibleSHIELD...
 
I just got the Claivue. Best one I have ever had. I had invisisheild in the past, and that had a stickyness to it. You can't even tell that that Clarivue is on the screen. So great.
 
I bought the BodyGuardz full body coverage for my Inspire. I initially used Zagg on my iPhone 4 and just didn't like the strange texture (almost orange peel) and the fact that it was a little more tacky than I anticipated. Also, took the iPhone 4 to the beach and got one lousy granule of sand between the case and the phone. It "tore" the Zagg shield but did not scratch the back. It's good coverage, I just didn't like the feel of it. When I removed it, it didn't leave any residue.

I then bought the Bodyguardz protector for it and it was largely the same, minus the "orange peel" effect of the Zagg shield. Optically, I thought it was a tiny amount better, but not hugely noticeable. I thought the installation of the BG was easier than the Zagg. I'm looking forward to getting it and the Speck case on my Inspire before something bad happens.

I too bought the bodyguardz full body. I agree about your comments on the zagg. I really like the bodyguardz. I can hardly tell there is anything on the screen and it is crystal clear. I have mine paired with the otterbox commuter and it is a great combo. Another plus about bodyguardz is that they send you 2 screen/full body protectors for the price of 1.
 
Dumb question, why bother with a screen protector at all? Is the screen protector tough enough to keep the glass from scratching? Said another way, I thought that Gorrilla Glass is a lot tougher than a screen protector, so how can adding one help?

I am kinda in the same boat. When I bought my phone from Costco the guy dragged a key across their demo's screen and it did absolutely no damage at all. I was quite shocked, especially since my iPhone 4 had a few scratches in the screen that I think were made by a key in my pocket.

If I got one I guess I would go to Best Buy or something like that, I don't trust myself to put it on without having bubbles in it or making it look sloppy lol. I just don't know if there is a need for one given how tough the glass is on the device.
 
Um, well... I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I was just passing on hearsay... I don't honestly know.

Indeed. 2 for 1 can't be beat. As far as Gorilla Glass being on the Inspire, from what I have read, no, it's not Gorilla Glass. I think it's called Monkey Glass (no joke) and is a little more flexible than the Gorilla Glass.

Honestly, I put a full body protector on my tech because I usually end up selling it to finance other tech once I'm done enjoying it. And I hate scratches.
 
I bought a two pack of SGP Steinheil screen protectors from Amazon:

Ships with two screen protectors, squeegee, and microfiber cloth. This protector is applied dry, and it can be removed or adjusted easily. The film is thin, but I suppose any protection is better than none. The film is very clear and smooth to the touch.

Yes this phone has "gorilla glass" for it's screen, but I managed to put a small scratch on mine (1/8") within a week of buying mine. Maybe not a big deal to most, but I'm extremely picky. Luckily I was able to exchange it, and I have a cheap screen protector on now until my new one comes (Steinheil).

That being said, I have been impressed with both Clarivue and Steinheil (SGP) screen protectors. They are both high quality and easy to install. I had the same Steinheil Ultra Crystal Clear screen protector on my HTC Evo for over a year. It was a bit beat up, but when I removed it to sell the phone the screen was 100% unmarked.

Same here, I also somehow managed to put about a 1/4" long scratch on mine, just below the HOME button. Funny thing is, I had a screen protector on it from the time I bought it on launch day. I didn't like how fuzzy it made the screen look though, so I took it off & then a few weeks later scratched it. :mad:

Moral of the story: Gorilla glass is not scratch-proof or even that scratch resistant, based on my experience.
