Screen Quality and Phone Upgrade

So I'm still really happy with my Note II and could probably run with this phone for a lot longer. The only issues I have is viewing the screen during dark scenes on videos. This is really my main use for the phone - watching videos while I travel.

Are any of the newer phones better at handling dark sceens in video?
