Screen Quality / Colours

I read this post (http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-support-troubleshooting/229513-quality-screen.html) about the Desire HD screen quality. Apart from the colours appearing less brilliant and more washed out, the grey at the bottom (where the phone, customize and programs icons are) appears a bit blue-ish.

I've attached a pic I took of the two phone side by side. Does that look normal for a DHD?

hi there, i'm not 100% sure on the bluey tinge the greys maybe experiencing, though looks grey to me via your pics. Fundamentally its all to do with the type of screens used. the Desire uses an AMOLED screen, which produces brighter colours and a more vibrant display. The Desire HD however uses a Super LCD screen, so yes by default the colours on the Desire HD wont appear so vibrant with less punch compared to an AMOLED screen. It isn't a problem but down to the type of screen they have used.

Okay, thanks. Just making sure I don't have a defective screen. Too bad they didn't use the AMOLED on the Desire HD. Maybe that and much-higher-res is coming next year :-/

No its not defective i thought the same thing when i first saw a DHD in action, how washed out it looks, but i do use a SGS. it was a bit of a surprise they didnt use an AMOLED screen of some description, but did read somewhere that there was a shortage in AMOLED screens so they resorted to using LCD.

lol, that's just sad then...not having AMOLED screens on the DHD because of supply issues.

Even on the standard Desire they have started using sLCD screen due to the AMOLED shortage. Pity as the screen on my Desire was great and the DHD does look washed out along side it.
