Help Screen Rotation Issue

I've only had it happen once so far, but all I did to fix it was put the HTC screen orientation lock/toggle widget on one of my screens and lock it, and then unlock it and it went back to normal. Didn't have to reboot and it's been fine now for several days.

I cannot disclose my source due to my NDA, nor am I alllowed to answer specific questions surrounding this issue.

However I strongly advise that _ all of you, even those without the problem, quit all programs you have running (no special procedure needed) and then turn your phone completely off.

Leave it off for a full two minutes, then turn it back on. If you experience a repeat of the problem (highly unlikely) get in touch with AT&T Android support.

I believe this will make all of you very happy.
Cheers ... :)

Sounds like a government conspiracy... LOL

Seriously I'm really not following you, especially the part were you "Strongly advise"?

I'm running into the same problems. I have re-calibrated it, rebooted my phone and after I have pressed the power button a few times, I can't rotate the images. I shouldn't have to restore my phone so early on to solve this issue. I have the same aps on my phone as I had on my Captivate, so its definitely not a software issue. I may just bring my phone back to att and get a new one. I've only had the phone a week.

So far the restore has worked. But I agree I shouldn't have had to do this already. I'll be taking mine back to BB this week for a new one. I'm going to use every bit of the thirty days and make sure this is the phone I want. If I get another like it I'll try the atrix.

I will be restoring later today. Couldn't do it earlier. If it continues to happen I will also take it back. It's quite disappointing that this would happen. Other then that I love the device.

Hey people the only way i can get my phone to work properly is to not use live wallpapers....i noticed that the issue with the screen rotatio is when you are using a live wallpaper..for example some live wall papers animation will move left or right when you move your phone..i have stoped using live wall paper like those and it doesnt give me that issue anymore..hope this helps..other live wallpapers work fine..its those whith animation that use the g sensor to move its animatio..

I actually didn't like the live wallpapers... I just have a plain black background. My phone still would not rotate. If this is happening to you and your in your thirty days I would recommend taking it back. Also I have tried everything with the replacement they gave me and it is all together working live wallpapers or not.

I had the same problem, took my phone it and got a new one. New one did the same exact thing. Dude said if the second phone did the same thing, it was probley ME, not the phone - relieved to see others with same prob. - did take off my live wallpaper, trying to reboot again - we'll see, I may be going back to get the (gasp...) Iphone. :(

I did do the restore and it worked for 2 days. Its really disappointing. I will go and return mine for another one. Hopefully it doesn't do it. I don't use live wallpapers at all. I don't want to go with the iPhone 4. I've had two iPhones already and I just like the Android setup better.

Ok this may sound dumb but mine was not working and I kept celebrating it.but I was.doing it wrong for those few like me lol
make sure the phone is lieing flat on its back!

So glad to read about others having this same issue. I thought for sure it was just me.

This is my 2nd HTC 4G inspire and it's still doing the same thing where the screen won't rotate accordingly after awhile.

My wife has the same phone and her phone is fine, just mine acting up. Hope someone comes up with a concrete fix for this sooner than later...

Im on my 2nd phone, same issues with screen rotation - I have to restart my phone EVERYTIME it push the "sleep" button on the top!!!! I restart my phone 20 + times a day..... COME ON HTC.... WE NEED AN UPDATE.... I don't want the Iphone, and I don't want to tell everyone how much this phone sucks.... but I also don't want to restart my phone 20 times a day. How do we get intouch with HTC? Moderator??? Have a suggestion for that???:mad::mad:

Don't know if this is still an issue, but I calibrated my phone incorrectly by using it like a level...BAD MOVE!!!
The correct way to calibrate is to place your phone on it's back with the display facing the ceiling. I re-calibrated this way and the orientation problem went away.
