Root Screen rotation issue

droid newb

Android Enthusiast
Rooted LG Motion. No ROMs or themes installed.

My screen won't rotate when I reply to a text message via the popup notification. It used to before I rooted, and still did after, but it has now stopped. I have "rotate screen" checked in the settings, and everything else rotates, so I am stumped as to why it won't rotate anymore. It's really annoying because the small keyboard is a PITA for me sometimes!

A friend of mine has the same device (unrooted) and hers didn't stop rotating.

Can someone help...it's driving me nuts!!!!!

That happened to me when I rooted my phone, annoyed the hell out of me. But what I've come to find is that during the rooting process it'll do just fine and say that the device was rooted, but its buggy and doesn't register as rooted through some apps, so run the 'ox4r' again after it reboots from the first root. After I did that it works just fine. I can't remember everything the command prompt was saying, but I remember the second running of 'ox4r' saying something more confirming about the root working. Let me know how it works.

I've rooted & unrooted this phone a couple of times. Each time I rooted I had to do it a couple of times to get it to work.

The rotation was working for awhile, but then it just stopped.

If I run the ox4r again will I have to reinstall all of the apps that are only for rooted devices???

I tried running the o4xr 3 times & each time it says it failed basically because the phone is already rooted & the superuser file already exists.

I really don't want to unroot then root again. That's just too much mucking around. There's got to be a way to fix this rotation issue without going through all that!

Do you have BusyBox?

Do you have another Launcher besides the Stock Launcher? If so, check within the Launcher's settings, perhaps you didn't allow it to auto-rotate in those settings

Yeah I checked that. The only thing that doesn't rotate is the popup when I try to respond to a text through it. :(

You might want to admit to yourself that people often use the Unbrick method simply to change the firmeware version.
And not all comments are made out of negativity

Sorry I came off that way. I was actually unaware that the unbrick method had anything to do with cracking firmware.

Hey its no problem
And yeah its called unbrick
But you can flash to any of the firmware c-e
I have 3 motions so i try them all

Some people have tethering issues on e so the flash to older versions
Also people developing cm 10 been trying different versions to get everything running
For devs and.tweaks there are many reasons to use unbrick method besides being bricked.

And huge reason is rom development and trying to conquer the locked bootloader
Some people have had to brick on purpose just to get into fastboot mode

Anyways thanks for your reply
Take care
