Screen scratchability?

It is gorilla glass but that does nto mean that it is scratch proof.
Mohs Scale of Hardness
The one to look at there is quartz, that is what most sands are made from and is one of your biggest worries. And it is harder than most glass.

The way I look at it is that screen protectors are cheap. I use the SGP ultra clear.

Scratch resistant.

I've had my phone without a case or screen protector since launch day. In and out of pockets, even ones with buttons, I've run with it (RunKeeper app), and I've dropped it. No scratches yet.

Drop onto driveway hard textured concrete and the top corner is a little messed up. Phone slid screen first along that same concrete and not a single scratch.

However, I did buy a case and the SGP UltraClear after that. ;)

The first week I had mine without a SP (was waiting for them to come in the mail). It was in and out of my pocket all week, never any scratches on the screen . I gotta say the glass (gorilla or not) seems to be pretty tough, although I didn't want to push it so I Ebayed a half dozen protectors the day my DX came in the mail.

The ones I ordered were inexpensive but after reading the posts above I took out an extra one and gave it the "pen test" just to see how durable they are. Happy to report that it was real tough to poke a hole in it, so I feel pretty safe about having it on my DX. I also got a black silicone case that makes the entire phone look nice as well as keep it safe, and at a fraction of the Verizon in-store price. IMO these are two of the best things we can do to help insure our toys remain safe and usable :D.

JMO you take the (very remote) chance of getting a scratch and then "maybe" you might have a small scratch. You don't take the chance and use a screen protector. Most I've seen are really jacked looking, and I wonder, is THIS really any better than a small scratch?
I have had the Droid 1 since 7am day 1 and DX now for about 4 months. NO scratches. I have a cottage with a sandy beach, I have sand in my environment. NO scratches, no screen protectors, no worries. Spend your money wisely, buy Corning Stock instead (maker of Gorilla Glass) .

I ran the original Droid naked for the better part of a year. Not a single solitary scratch.... still looks perfect.

So far, so good with the x as well. Screen protectors are not worth it to me.

Not worth the risk to me,I've used Invisableshield for years ut on a touch screen it's not slick enough for me so I use Ghost Armor
