Root Screen seems to be going dead

I'm on Nonsensikal 16.1 and certain spots on my touch screen seem to not respond when I click them, or I have to click them multiple times. Like I can no longer click on the space to type a message in chompsms, I have to use the track ball to click it. I also have problems clicking the space key, "a" key and "h" key. Is there any way to fix this or is it a hardware problem? I feel like its a calibration thing but I can't figure out how to calibrate it. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Does it only happen when you're using the onscreen keyboard, or is also slow to respond if you press an app/widget that is in that same location on the home screen?

It is usually the keyboard but sometimes I have a little trouble clicking in that area on other apps, but it happens a lot with the keyboard.

My friend had this happen. He had to return his device for a refurbished model because it was hardware related. His was also stock everything with no rooting. It happens on occasion.

Yep, I'm thinking hardware problem also.
I had the same thing happen to my first Eris, in my case it was the bottom left corner of the screen.

Yes as long as the screen is not cracked physically and it is within the year warranty Verizon should replace this with a refurbished unit. At least that is what happens most of the time.

Yep. When it happened to mine the phone was about 6 months old, Verizon swapped it with no questions at all (after of course the obligatory factory reset to see if that made the problem go away).

Well ive sent an email off to both HTC and Verizon and I am waiting for a response. I dont know how but my camera lens on the back of the phone got cracked but it wasn't from dropping it, it was a few months ago and the camera still works perfectly. So Im hoping one of the two will fix it.

Thank you both

1. Emailing will not get your problem fixed.
2. Emailing HTC will get nothing fixed.

What you need to do is call VZW up and get to customer service. Tell them the dead spot is in key locations (whether it is or not) like certain numbers on the keypad and it interferes with you typing a professional email.

Call from another, obviously, for two reasons
1. They'll make you call back so they can "troubleshoot" the issue
2. You can't dial certain numbers, remember?

They should send you a refurbished one by Monday (assuming you do it tomorrow).

Alright ill do that then. do i need to send them my phone before they'll send me a different one? Also when they need to "troubleshoot" my phone, do i need to have it unrooted before then, or wont they be able to tell its rooted?
