Screen Time

Couldn't find a thread on this but was just curious what the average screen time is on the Note 3. I'm only getting a little bit more than 4 hours of on screen usage. After some research I was seeing some people posting ridiculous times as much as 9 hours and 6 hours. I am on stock and have disabled many of the unused apps and brightness is about 50%. When I browse the internet I lose about 5% in about 30 minutes. Not sure what to believe out there so any feedback is much appreciated.

I'm getting about 6-7hrs on mine, brand new as of yesterday, I dis - abled most of the bloat ware with cleanmaster, brightness is at 50%.

Thats amazing. Are you rooted?
I've just disabled many apps that I won't use but haven't got anywhere near your on screen time. The overall time the phone stays on is great as I get about a full day but the on screen time is what concerns me.

No, not rooted yet, just got this baby in the mail yesterday!!! It came with 4.4.2 don't know if I can root?

Wow I'm completely jealous of your on screen time. If you don't mind me asking which carrier are you with?

As for rooting, I'm pretty sure you can root as there are threads on this forum.

I'm considering changing my phone out if I should be getting 6-7 hours of on screen time even though I'm getting a full day of the phone being on. 4 hours just doesn't cut it.

I'm with T-Mo, yeah, that's surfing the Web with dolphin browser, play store activity, etc, bout 6-7 hrs screen on, I have a lot of apps shut down, spen detection when it's in, shut off, wi-fi off, brightness is actually 45% . Still tweaking it as I learn more, will root later, of course.

I tend to lose a few battery percentage when I'm just browsing in Settings. I find this odd since I lose less when I'm watching a video or listening to music. Its like sometimes it eats up a few % and then at times it doesn't change for an hour. I'm still at odds on whether I should just keep this Note 3 or exchange it out.

Also here is a good thread on rooting when you do decide to. Thanks for your responses I might give cleanmaster a try.

Have you ever tried downloading some battery saving applications? I usually manage 4hr on screen time easy.

Juicedefender is a good battery saving application you could check out :)

Also LilBit the only rooting method for 4.4.2/4.4.3 at the moment is the Towelroot method, and it seems to be one of those keep trying till it works kind of things.

Thanks DC!! I'm in no hurry to root, but I will try towelroot,
I also have power saving mode enabled, only for the screen though.;)

Glad to see you around here again, and hopefully you're enjoying your device :)

I know I love it even though every single person that sees me with it is just like, DANG that phone is huge!

But yeah love this device :)

The maximum brightness that I have the screen on in the evening or where there is low light is 15%, with higher levels where the sunlight is visible. I've got a brightness program and the screen is still good to read when I set it to 0% (which is not total darkness as it sounds but very low light) in the evening with bulb lighting overhead.

I think you will find that you can still see the screen when you turn it down close to the minimum in your system settings, but it might take a little moment to get used to it. Once you do get used to it, i think you will find that if you turn it back to 50% again that it will seem too bright.

So your battery with screen on time should double or triple,or maybe even better than that if you find the screen usable in lower light settings. Also determine whether you should change your battery or not.

As SkyJackpot stated, screen brightness has a big play in how long your device will last. I have definitely noticed my device lasting longer the lower I turn my brightness, I usually always keep it on minimum, even though it is kind of hard to see in the sun.
