Help Screen Timeout Issue

nokmond

Lurker
Morning all, I have a galaxy note 2 which I have found excellent up to now.....

Since yesterday my screen timeout it's not working correctly. Whatever I set it to, usually 30 seconds, whenever I go back to my home screen and back into the settings it is changing itself back to 10 minutes.

I've tried disabling tasker, lux and widgetlocker but I cannot get the timeout to stick on 30 seconds.

Any ideas anyone?

Hello nokmond. Most of the timeout and other screen issues I've seen with the Note, as well as the S3, seem to point to 3rd party apps/widgets that have timed or scheduled activities involving the services which they use. There wil be a conflict, but the conflict will not necessarily show itself until a sort of mis-synchronization occurs at some point that is "just right." ;) That's why it looks ok for a while, before you start seeing strangeness.

Disabling things seems like a good way to try to ferret out the issue, but I'd be sure to reboot each time, and I'd also be sure to clear cache and data on those disabled, perhaps even uninstalling the most suspected ones.

Let us know how it goes.. sometimes it'll right itself just by changing the scheduled updates on a weather or social networking widget. Other times it can be fixed by clearing out the cache and data on the launcher itself, and starting over.
