Help SCREEN times out while using the phone

So while using this forum... My screen timed out .. Auto brightness is turned off.... It just dimmed while I was navigating through the phone.. Also sometimes the lower physical keys don't come on.. I have to hit the close button and wake the phone back up.. Anyone experiencing anything like that?

Well, I noticed that my screen dims when the battery reaches a certain level.

Probably should have mentioned that my phone was plugged in and right now while trying to respond..my lower hard keys are off
