Help screen touch sensitivity and screen issues

I am having two issues with my Nexus. The first, is the touch sensitivity does not seem to be all that great. I do have a screen protector on, but the sensitivity does seem fine for the most part.
Also, my Nexus screen will (almost daily) not turn on when I push the power button, or open my case for it. I hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn it on, and it does not turn on. I hold it for 10-15 seconds, and it (reboots?) restarts? Sometimes, the led at the bottom will be blinking, but the screen won't respond.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

You should only have to tap the button not hold it for 3 seconds.

That is what he said, at first he pushes the button once, when that doesnt work he holds it for 3 seconds, and then finally until it reboots.

I have the same problem. The touch screen would sometimes not recognize my touches. I usually do a reboot and its good.
