Help Screen turns on and off when receiving text?

When I receive a text message my screen will turn on from sleep for like 1/2 a second and turn off and then vibrate. Is this normal? I am currently on my second Evo, I don't believe my first one did this. Maybe this has something to do with the software update?

Anyone else have this happening?

My screen doesn't turn on at all when I receive a text, something I'm not used to coming from Handcent. Is there a setting somewhere that would allow it to?

im just guessing here but make sure you have your stock messaging program's settings so it doesnt interfere with the messaging app you currently have installed. and also double check your settings on your messaging app
