I got my HTC Desire HD at xmas time, and have been really looking after it, i keep it in a rubber case and today it was raining, i had my phone in my pocket, I was only out 5mins and i got home, my phone just had some condinsation on it. It just froze and the screen went black, phone seems to be working but the screen is dead! I bought my phone sim free its not under warrenty i dont think I bought it from Phones For You, Can anyone tell me roughly how much it is for this kind of repair, i just paid

Hi ninjalaura, welcome to the forums.

Although, note that this is the Desire forum, not the Desire HD one.

Anyway, if you bought your phone from Phones4U, or any retailer (as opposed to eBay) you have a warranty. I would be surprised if a little bit of moisture could kill the screen, but leave the phone functional. You could try the 'Tub of Rice' trick to dry it out just in case though.

You should check the moisture indicators in inside the phone. You should probably have two small white labels (one on battery by contacts, one under battery). If the phone has got wet inside, these will be pink/red.

If these are intact (white) I'd be taking it back to the shop for a warranty repair. If they are red, then they will almost certainly not cover the cost of repair.

Thanks for your reply, my phone was under warrenty and i sent it away a few days ago and it just came back today in a nice box saying " All Good" and a thumbs up and a letter saying its been fixed. So i turned it on.. the screen lit up and it started up.. 2 secs later.. screen goes black again, with lots of blue, green lines through it and now its not working again! I getting really fed up with my HTC Desire now! =(

Damn, that's not good.
Maybe take a picture of it, and insist it's sent with the phone next time?

I have had the same problem. I had a small crack in my back screen. the phone was out of warranty so I tried to fix it myself by changing the screen for a new one but i still have the same issue. does anyone know how to fix this? I have no insurance (i thought I had set it up but apparently didn't) and am locked into contract for another 11 months so really need to fix it!!
