Root Screw rooting this phone - Gingerbread rocks!

Bought a Commando the day it came out and rooted it as soon as possible. Took a lot of work but the thing was running pretty good after some time. Well after trying to move a bunch of apps to the SD card the other day, the screen froze (doesn't continue loading) during startup at the Verizon Wireless splash.

Got a new phone. It has the Gingerbread update. Been using it a few days now. RUNS AWESOME. Battery life is great, performance is great, everything feels snappier, etc. Not going to root again - just not worth it on this phone. The only thing I'm realllly missing is that I can't seem to change the keyboard from the default (which is pretty good, except it takes too long when holding down a letter for the secondary number or whatever to pop up).

Anyway I think Casio would have sold A LOT more phones if they would've had this update on it in the first place. The difference is incredible underneath the skin.

My experience is opposite of yours.
2.2.1 rooted was much faster than 2.3.3, rooted or not.
2.2.1 was pretty smooth and 2.3.3 is pretty laggy.
I prefer the original color schemes as well.

Runs like butter.

Also want to note that I have been into this rooting/custom rom stuff for a while. My first smartphone phone was a Windows Mobile HTC Imagio that I promptly unlocked and kept updated with the latest Energy ROM. That phone was junk without it and not bad with it.

Next smartphone was this one and I dunno if it's because it came from the box with Gingerbread on it, but it runs a million times better than Froyo on my previous Commando.

Just want to add that after a couple of weeks, this thing is still running like buttsecks. I'm serious my Froyo with all bloat deleted, rooted and all that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on this phone. I'm still wondering what's up with all this rooting??? I remember how horrible support was for my Imagio and how it took like 2 years before a decent ROM was out (don't get me wrong, it was MUCH better), but by the time a decent ROM was out, it was upgrade time and phones that were a million times better were out. Obviously this is not the case with more popular and more easily hacked phones and I feel the Commando may end up in the same boat.

Anyway I honestly can't believe how great this phone is running with a clean Gingerbread on it. It feels twice as fast. There is absolutely no lag, everything just pops right up, etc. It's almost like the bloatware is not even there and oddly enough, the android market shows that pretty much the whole slew of the verizon apps are uninstalled, which is kinda weird.

This is coming from a guy who overclocked his router with ww-drt yearss ago, overclocked windows mobile phone, very overclocked thuban+graphics on water, etc...so i love tinkering with shit.
