Root Scripting an nTelos carrier APN for build.prop

I'm wondering if someone could please help with building a script.zip for nTelos for me so I can patch it to the available ROMs for the Admire.

Everything else with the available MetroPCS Custom ROMs seems to work fine for the nTelos Admire, except for the mms section of the ROM.. if there was just a way for me to patch a zip through CWM I think it would work...

I know there isn't many of us with nTelos carrier, but it would be so nice to be able to get the mms working and long texts for these nice ROMs for MetroPCS.

I would do it myself, but I lack the knowledge to be able to do it.

I have tried using the voicedialer.apk and saying "Open APNs" and doing it that way, but every time I try to enter all the settings it doesn't take. I have tried all the methods mentioned in the source link and can't get it to go through.. this was my last resort, besides trying to learn how to make my own script in the zip to flash through CWM.

Copy "etc (folder)" & "build.prop (file)" to your SD card.

open them in notepad or notepad++ and alter the information

move them back to system folder (and overwrite). reset apn setting.

Under Fixing MMS .... This should make the setting of your choice the one in effect.

Try it and let's see how it goes.

Extract zip and copy nTelos-mms-fix.zip\system\etc\apns-conf.xml and nTelos-mms-fix.zip\data\data\com.android.providers.telephony\databases\Telephony.db to your sd and just replace existing files in there respective folders. Make sure your system is R/W not R/O. I used root explorer. Resart phone. I did this and it fixed my MMS problem. Hope this helps.

I wrote a script to be used in further CM7 update zips to copy and restore APN settings, so hopefully that will resolve a lot of the data issues people are seeing. Will be included with Alpha4, just have a lot of things to fix (that I broke in alpha3 lol) before a release.

OK.. so novice guy trying to get this to work...

Ok so I tried to make my own patch.zip for CWM... I edited the updater-script to mount the folders and extract contents, etc. and added the folders/files etc. into the zip... I then used the apk-multi-tool and placed it in the folder it said to place it in and chose option 19 in multi-tool... I copied the zip to sd card booted into CWM and tried to run the zip.. it gives me an error every time... something like status 0 or something... I have tried this from scratch 2x now following the instructions exactly... or so I think!

Technically I don't think I was even needed to do last part about signing apk because there is no apk in the zip... it is mainly config files and such for ntelospcs... so I imagine...

Can someone please PM me with some answer?

You sure you have the correct update-binary? Try taking the one from my CM7 zips. Error status 0 usually means wrong update-binary.

Sorry I missed your response earlier.. I am definitely going to try that and get back to you.. also... when editing it through notepad++.. how should I save it? it seems like when I hit save it adds a .txt to the end of update-script. Should I use the option Save As.. ?? Thanks and sorry for such lousy questions... I appreciate your pointers!
