Help Scvngr & Where auto-update reguardless

Even though I turn off "allow automatic updating" for these 2 apps, they somehow turn it back on and update. Does anyone have a fix for these or any ideas? Other than keep uninstalling and unchecking "allow automatic updating", which I've been doing but can be tedious. I don't use these and probably never will. Every time they update I get a "low phone storage" message. Thanks.

I've seen tons of threads and posts like yours, and there does not seem to be an easy fix other than rooting your phone and removing the bloatware. Even then some apps auto update on their own. The only permanent solution I've encountered is rooting and installing a custom rom (which is what I was eventually driven to, and now I don't have these issues). I hate being one of these "root and rom will fix it all" people, but it is what it is. :o

Just an FYI: mid-texcellular is not associated with Virgin Mobile. Those website devs working on the Market website really need to fix that. :(

Have you tried turning off auto sync in the settings menu.

I thought that auto sync was to allow you to get email, contacts, calendar etc. from outside services, like Gmail or Yahoo mail. I don't understand how it would help with this problem.

In addition to unchecking the "allow automatic updating", I went into settings/manage applications and cleared out the cache and reverted the bloatware apps to original status. I haven't had the low phone storage problem for several weeks for several weeks since doing that.

At this point it's six of one, half a dozen of the other. Turn it off and only turn it on for 30 sec. just before you need to use something that depends on said update. This might keep the aforementioned apps from updating.

So far that works for me. Disabling auto sync disconnects the Market from my phone and I haven't got any auto updates. I don't need any Gmail notification on my phone.
