SD back, but without Marshmallow feature

i store all my images/videos on dropbox
and dont really keep music on my phone..
so have found my sdcards pretty much sit idle.. while my phone is constantly complaining about being out of internal storage...
moving apps to the card typically seems worthless, because it always seems to leave the bulk of the app on the phone.. and increase the chances of crashes..
now, i am going from 16gb internal on my S5 to 32gb internal on the S7.. so maybe that solves my issue.. but i was really looking forward to the adaptive storage features, and am very annoyed that its being blocked..
i can understand wanting the system files to stay local on the phone for stability purposes.. but the card could have been stripped with the internal storage, without ever allowing critical system files from going to the card..

Most sites reported that the S7s cannot move apps to the SD Card as it does not have adoptable storage, however today I read the opposite: http://www.droid-life.com/2016/03/01/galaxy-s7-system-storage-install-apps-sd/

Droid Life has an actual Galaxy S7 and shows screenshots where you can see that apps can be moved to the SD card despite popular belief. A link to the article was tweeted by Phandroid writer, Chris Chavez so I believe it.

Side-note: If someone can tell me how post a clickable Hyperlink instead of pasting the entire URL that would be great :)

I read this article too, and from those screen shots, it looks like it moves both app and data which would be great. The old way of moving apps to the SD card (non root) only involved the app and not the data, which was a big problem especially when games' bulk of space is in the data. I am interested in finding out more info on this and indeed if it's moving both app and data because that would be a decent alternative to adoptable storage.

I would want the option. It would allow me to leave space in the internal drive. I have too many apps.

The S5 allowed certain apps to be moved to the SD card and I used it whenever possible. That might be the same feature referenced in the article.
The S4 had that as well, but it really only moved the app and not the app data (which is the bulk of the size oftentimes) and only on those apps that the developer allowed. From the screen prints on the S7 feature, it seems to say in those photos that it moves both app *and* data which would be really nice if that is what it did.

I find it displeasing when any manufacturer changes things that I find useful. Like using my sd as I see fit without their changes that really hinder full use no matter your use choices. As for Sansung. Not a fan of their devices. Bought the Galaxy J3 and its always prompting crap when using the sd card. I dont need a nanny for my sd card. And then there is their changes to the apps thenselves like using .qmg vs .png as the default apps interfaces. Makes customizing and theming outside of their crap theme program a joke. I will be moving on from this device to another manufacturer completely.

Check this out, you can move the entire app, and data, to the SD card. This is actually better then the feature that Android Marshmallow has. You rock Samsung.

Edited: Just found out that when you update apps that are saved on the SD card, you have to go back into settings and save the update to SD card too.

Ok. After doing a little digging around, the data files ARE NOT moved to SD card like I thought. (Even though it says it is). As a matter of fact, I can't even tell how much, if any, of the app is moved to the SD card. It would be nice if Samsung listed how much of the app is on the SD card, for each app you move. (Its like this on my S4) If you guys can figure this out, please let us know. Thanks.

It's a cool feature. Worked pretty well on my HTC One M8. I didn't notice much if any performance degradation for apps that I installed on the SD card/adoptable storage. For large games, there was a slightly longer loading time when launching the app but no degradation during the game. I did have some problems though. Weirdly, I lost the ability to view my Google contacts! Since I sync all my contacts to my Google account, I basically lost all my contacts on that device. I did a factory reset, removed the adoptable storage feature and the Google contacts returned. I also noticed that when plugging the phone to my PC, Windows could not detect the adoptable storage, only the phone's storage so I couldn't transfer files directly to my PC from the SD card.
I'm sure these bugs could be ironed out and it would be a very useful feature to have. 32gb does not go a long way these days.

I have been trying to move the Fitbit app for the past few minutes and no luck. The option to move it is there, and I selected it and it goes to a screen that says it will take only a few minutes to move. Then, it just stays there. Nothing. I can close it and go back and check and the app hasn't moved. Any ideas?
