SD card "disappears"?

Twice today my phone suddenly couldn't "see" the SD card and first claimed it couldn't take a picture because it did not have space authorisation (or something like that) on SD card then it said it hadn't been able to back up on card for the same reason. Each time I switched it off and back on again and it could see the card again. I am using a 16GB SanDisk card purchased from Amazon. Any thoughts?

Are you sure its a legit card? Did it come from amazon, or a third party amazon seller?

I would have thought legit, it did come from Amazon itself and came in all the right packaging.
