Help SD card issues

My Rezound is having problems recognizing that the SD card is mounted. It happens when I attempt to share a photo through the Handcent messaging service, and once when I tried viewing a picture on the SD card itself. But mainly after sharing through handcent. It pops up with an error message saying that the "SD card was removed unexpectedly" and then it won't read it. Reboot and it works just fine. Try sharing again and it does the same thing. No recent updates to either my gallery or handcent itself.

Any ideas on what I can do to straighten this out? BTW, I searched and didn't find anything like this for the Rezound.

Thanks in advance...

I keep a lot of important things on my SD card so if I was experiencing your problems, Id be nervous. My line of attack would be to move all of the files on my SD card to my PC. I would then unmount it and remove it. I'd then reinstall it and remount. I would then have the phone format the card. I'd then COPY my files back and see if that cured my ills. This might not fix things but.. my files are then backed up and if the problem is with the SD card they should be fixed.

I don't have anything important on my SD card. Some pictures I'd rather not lose, but nothing I really need. I'll give this a shot. Any thoughts on whether it could be related to age of the SD card? It's the same one I got with my DINC when it first came out. My Rezound came with a 16gb card, so I think I'll try your suggestion above, but copy from the old card to the new. Thanks for the reply...

There isn't much that can go wrong with a SD card.. no moving parts sorta thing. Who knows what went South. I used the same SD card in a Blackberry and my Dinc with no problems. I retired it with the Dinc and went with the card that came with the Rez. Sorry you lost your stuff. You might go lightly with using the new card until you've gained confidence and keep things backed up. Just to make certain it's not the phone causing your grief.
