Help SD card keeps "removing itself"

CARB1DE

Lurker
I just received the new update a few days ago the 4.2.2 I believe, and now my phone keeps removing and preparing the SD card. I backed up the card just in case but it hasn't done this before. Once I backed up the SD card I formatted it just to see if it would "sync" it with the phone, but nothing.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

Sadly lots of people seem to be having issues with the 32GB SanDisk. I had a problem with 2 different 32gb Sandisk cards, but so far my 64gb replacement seems to be holding up.

I'm on 4.1.1, and had problems with my Sandisk 32gb (red+grey colour high speed card)

Same problems as you, in that the phone would say card not inserted or something similar, but then immediately say card inserted, preparing card...

I formatted, quick and full format, but still did the same.

Went back to using my older class4 32GB card (not a sandisk one) and it's been perfect.

So I can only assume I had a duff card. And before anyone says, I work in retail, bought the card from work, so it's a 100% genuine card, not a copy/ebay special...
I guess I was one of the unlucky ones.

Have u tried using a different card just to check to see if the problem goes away? Cause I'm just saying you're using the same sandisk brand as I was...

I have a 32 GB Sandisk in my Note 10.1 and have no issues with it so far. But it's a black Class 10. I have a Samsung 32 GB Class 10 in my Note 2. Both formatted to exFAT by Win7 x64 OS.

I have just had this issue after updating to 4.1.2. 32Gb Sandisk red/grey one. Have tried unmounting, remounting re-formatting etc also done all this on a PC but still the same. But when I put the card into my sons Samsung Note 10.1 tablet the card is fine and can be written to and read from ok on the tablet. I have put a 8Gb card in the Note 2 and that is absolutely fine. Really confused here. Have just e mailed Sandisk for an RMA to swap it as advised by many posts in various forums across the net.

Will keep you posted.

My SanDisk 32Gb Class 10 card (beige and red) started unmounting and re-mounting with increasing frequency over four days. I purchased it about 4 months ago. I eventually pulled everything off with an external card reader hooked up to my PC (it was having problems reading it, too). I tried re-formatting it, but that didn't help. I contacted SanDisk and they said it was probably defective. I sent it in and 1.5 weeks later I got a new one back from them (covered under warranty).

The new one has had zero problems so far (one month).

There did not appear to be any correlation with the OS version.

HTH.

I have 2 cards that flatlined after 2 different updates. Firmware Updates Toast mSD card?

One I was able to salvage and I constantly get the same notifications CARB1DE gets. It's a P.I.T.A. so I think I'm going to have to eventually replace it- just now sure what to replace it with.
