Help SD Card Mounted as Read Only

I started getting this error probably a week ago my SD card was Mount as Read Only and I tried removing, resetting, etc everything except for reformatting

Then it just disappeared, and last night playing on my phone I noticed only half of my photos showed up so I was like what?

Anyway after reading the forums I've come to the conclusion that the only solution is to reformat it however

I would like to backup what I can if I can

I am NOT rooted
It is a 16gb SD card
and when I use astro I can find the files that previously do not show up in my gallery - which is my main concern

When I mount as a disk drive to my pc, only the phones storage shows up and the SD card does NOT

Is there anyway to keep those pics or back it up

Also, how do I go about reformatting the card?

You should be able to remove the card and mount it on the PC with an adapter. You should also then be able to format it on the PC to fat32

The phone will then do the rest for folders etc.

Actually, you can copy everything off, format it, and copy everything back on the PC

Oh I forgot this, I have managed to lose my adapter and without going to buy another is there any other way?
