Root SD card not recognized in CWM 5.0.2.8?

Rooted my ZVC based Marquee and flashed PlayfulGod's CWM 5.0.2.8. Installed great. But, I went to make a nandroid backup in CWM I get: "Can't mount backup path". Went to mounts/storage to check and it said "mount SD card", so I tried to mount SD card but got "error mounting /SDcard". OK, so I try to just install the zip without making a backup (hesitantly), and when I try to install from zip, error mounting sdcard.

SD card (8GB card, about 7GB space left) is recognized by the phone when booted up regularly . Went into ROM Manager and tried flashing CWM through that. Worked fine (flashed 5.0.2.8) but still had the same issues as above when trying to make a nandroid backup or install ROM from zip. Took card out, tested it on my PC...everything looks fine there.

So...I'm stuck. Anyone with the same issues?

**EDIT**
Found out what the issue was; the recovery didn't like format of the SD card. I took the SD card out and reformatted it as FAT32 and now CWM recognizes the card to do nandroids!

UPDATE: flashed PG's version 6 of CWM without issue, but still get the same error as described above. I even tried changing to a new SD card just in case, same issue. Anyone?
