Help SD card not recognized

Ive had my droid 3 for several months now. and when i took the sd card out of my old droid 2 global and put it in the droid 3, it isnt being recognized. it isnt even recognized on my laptop either. i dont want to spend the money to buy a whole new micro sd card if thats not the problem. any advice?

it is possible the sdcard may need to be formatted, and is it recognized in the d2g?
if it doesnt get recognized in the original device, you may need to replace the sdcard
