Root SD Card Problem in Rooted images?

I'm pretty sure all the custom roms for our phone are still on 2.3.4. so the sd card issue shouldn't happen.

Hi all,

I am having the problem described here:

http://androidforums.com/samsung-transform-ultra/550731-sd-chip-unmounts-itself-after-update.html

after an OTA update to 2.3.6, with some attempts to reinsert having the OS proclaim "damaged SD card". [A reboot fixes it until the next time it happens]

I was wondering if this issue is fixed in any of the rooted images out there before I go ahead and try it.

Thanks in advance!

Your problem is different than described in that thread. The users there abruptly get the message saying 'sd card removed'. A message follows saying its dangerous to remove memory cards without unmounting them first.

Remember that people make threads for problems and a very large amount of them do not post back once their problem is fixed, or goes away.

When you get an error that says 'damaged' a simple reseat should not work and I am a bit surprised that restarting the phone does (unless it is not done scanning the card, or it scans fine and than eventually accesses a broken file.)

You should put the sd card in a computer and run a check disk. In windows open my computer, right click on the card, properties, tools tab, error checkng check now. If it does not find errors a file can be causing the issue, back up data, format the card, and insert it with no data and see if issue persists. If it does I would try another sd card. If it persists than its the phone or os.

Everyone wants to blame the os, but I had the same problem as the above thread on 2.3.4 and it went away on its own. All i did was reseat the card and blow out debris and it still happened, however a day or two later it just stopped. I upgraded my card to a 16gb sandisk since and it has never happened to the new card.
