Root SD card problem

I bought an 8GB class 6 microsd card as I wanted a faster card and don't use the full 16GB of my current card.

I use a ROM with Apps2SD, so I did a mybackup pro backup to get everything from the EXT3 partition backed up, then I partitioned my new SD Card with a Fat32 partition followed by a 1GB EXT3 partition, then I copy/pasted everything from the Fat32 partition of my card to my new card, inserted my new SD card in my phone, then did a mybackup pro restore. I then rebooted.

I can't think of anything I've done wrong there but for some reason it gets stuck on the leedroid boot screen when I'm starting up my phone with my new card in now. I left it for five minutes before getting bored of waiting. Seeing as I've copied everything from card to card I wouldn't have thought the ROM would need to run the scripts it runs when you first install a new ROM, so it shouldn't take more than a few seconds to boot.

Anyone have any ideas why?

It would probably have been easier (once paritioned) to restore a nandroid backup onto the new card.

heres what I would do:

1) Nandroid backup
2) Sd contents to PC
3) Partition SD Card (mounted in recovery - Using GPARTED Live CD
4) PC to SD Card
5) Nandroid restore

Boot loops can occur if the partition has not been done properly. Many windows tools will give this sort of issue.

Yea, and ur Android's still looking for items on the ext. U copied everything from fat but ignored ext.
My backup pro doesn't necessarily restore to original location. Ti has this option and is better at this. What Dan said is the easiest option.

I didn't realise Nandroid backups backed up the sd card ext partition too, thanks :P

Unfortunately though windows won't recognise my sd card as a filesystem it can read when I've formatted it using GParted, I have no idea why. I've formatted it with a Fat32 partition followed by a 1GB Ext3 partition, both primary, and windows says this:

[Window Title]
Location is not available

[Content]
E:\ is not accessible.

The volume does not contain a recognized file system.
Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.

[OK]
Partition Wizard (a windows partition editor) still recognises both partitions on the SD card!

Did the exact same thing again just now, but I added a 64MB linux swap partition after the EXT3 one and it seems to have worked.

I'm still getting boot loops with both of my SD cards sometimes. It seems to take 4-5 attempts to get my phone to boot properly so something must be wrong still, but I don't know if it's the SD card or not.

Thanks a lot for the help :)

If you have 2 partitioned cards and it boot loops on both, thats very odd and most likely the Android OS.

Have you been using titanium backup at all?

If so and you also have a nandroid, you could try nandroid restore from a known working time (or a factory reset) followed by a titanium restore.

When I say it boot loops, what I mean is that it gets past the HTC loading screen, then it goes into Leedroid's custom boot screen with an ascii android logo and just gets stuck there. It doesn't automatically shut down but it doesn't boot either, so I end up having to pull the battery and trying to boot again.

I used to use titanium backup but use mybackup pro now - titanium caused my people app to force close after I restored contacts; mybackup doesn't do that.

And I unfortunately don't have a Nandroid from when it was working.. I may just try a different rom soon!

Factory reset from recovery is probably worth a try if you haven't yet
