I am thnking about upgrading my SD card from 8GB to 16 or 32GB, however I have several questions that I am hoping can be answered:

1- does it matter what company SD card I buy? ...Kingston? Transcend?...Sandisk? ..PNY?...Patriot?....some other??

2- Any companies to avoid?

3- what EXACTLY does the term "class" mean? I am seeing SD cards that are class 4, class 10...etc?

4- Do SD cards come blank/empty? Meaning that when I copy over everything that is currently on my old SD card, will there be any duplicate copies of any files, apps, system files....etc ... that may be pre-installed on the new card?

5- What is a good SD card company and which class would you recommend?

....thanks for the help!

EDIT: I just added this question over in support and troubleshooting as well.

I'm going to glom onto this thread, if you don't mind, because I have a related question. I just bought a 32G card a few minutes ago on Amazon, should be here on Monday. When we get it, is it as simple as moving everything on my current card to the new card, plugging in the new card and that's that, or is there something else I need to do? Does the existing card have a specific name or reference that the system uses that I need to be aware of, for instance?

In response to the question about class above, I can tell you generally that class refers to the speed at which data is transferred to and from the card. Higher class, faster speed, and whether the premium you pay for the higher class is ultimately based upon your personal preference and patience level. If you look in the stickied thread in the Accessories section, it links to a number of threads about memory cards that go into it in some detail.
