Help SD Card Questions

It's been so long since I was here last, I got another phone! So I knew the F3 had space issues, but I was sure I could work around them. My SD card, 16gb, was already partitioned for my old Optimus V, so I thought I'd be okay. Alas, when I tried to use Link2SD just to even create links, it told me there was no space left on my device. When I looked at my SD card, it showed my second partition (ext2, 177mb) was full. I guess my main question is, is there any way I can make another partition or re-partition my SD card without formatting it? I'm so ashamed to say that I can't properly back up my data right now, so ashamed. As usual, any help is appreciated. Glad to see development for this phone!

Edit: Rooted using motochopper. Phone says I have 765MB internal, 9GB left on SD card. Can't download any apps due to "insufficient storage."

You may need to reformat the card before using it on the F3. Try to use at least 2 GB for the sdext partition. If you're using Link2SD, I'd link data only if the F3 is using a good Class 10 card. Otherwise link apk, dalvik, and lib.

If you backup your apps with Titanium, you should be able to restore some of your data. What i described is really the best way to prepare the card for the f3 without any issues.

Pretty much what I was afraid of, the formatting. That second partition that's full, I can't just resize it without losing my data?

What carrier are you with? If you are with VM I modified my recovery to backup the 2nd partition on the external sdcard ( link2sd). If you format & resize just restore the backup.
