Help SD card unmounting while charging

My sd card is unmounting when I plug it in to charge. This is new behavior. It is still set to charge only. I started to notice a problem launching apps installed on the SD card, and being told they are no longer installed. This happens when charging on a computer or with an outlet.

While it's still plugged in I can change my preference to "Disk Drive" and then back to "Charge Only" and the card gets re-mounted. While I can't confirm this, I'm wondering if this is correlated to the new update that just rolled out. Anyone else seeing this?

having the same issue here.. first noticed because my txt ringtone kept changing, and it seems this was as the sound file was on the sd card and the phone couldn't find it.. now getting icons for apps stored on the card greyed out and not found .
As you it does seem there may be some link with when it is charging / connected to pc.
no clues anyone then.?
does feel like a mechanical / dodgy connection problem in a way, but am just guessing
