Root SD Card Wont Mount after

HSBHTC

Newbie
Hello,

Last night I decided to install a new ROM onto my already rooted phone. I ended up formatting the SD card by mistake losing all my backups (I am an idiot yes). After hours of trying different ROMS I found one that would boot. But no matter what I do the expensive 32GB SD card will not mount. I have tried formatting it as FAT32 in windows and also with a partition manager with some space as ex3?

Nothing I can do works have spent hours reading and trying things. I don't know what to do I need my phone; I have only just got out of hospital after losing my finger in an accident. If anyone can help I would be so grateful close to tears as pathetic as that sounds. I cannot afford a new SD card I don't know what to do.

The idea was to use a more stable ROM and partition the SD card so it had more internal memory. I have made such a mess of it.

ClockwokMod Recovery V
AlphaRev (s-off)
Kernel = 2.6.37.6-cyanogenmod-geb50077
[ROM][28/1][1.2] Supreme Desire - AOSP Goodness for your Desire.

PS I have also tried the SD card in another android phone with the same results. The SD card from my partners phone does work in my rooted desire though so it must be the SD card not the phone??

I'm afraid I don't see any suggestions in that list that describe your problem.

Have you got a card reader? My suggestion would be to use one and format the card as fat32 from a computer. Check the computer can read the card, then try the phone.

What partition tool did you try? If nothing else works I'd suggest using GParted, which is a linux tool. The All Things Root Guide sticky post in the Desire root forum has a video guide to using this.

Windows can see the card and write to it fine but none of the android phones can. I used MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 7.6 when I tried using a partition.

People on another forum suggest I have USB bricked the phone and to use "PB99IMG 4ext Recovery"

If your phone can read a different card I don't think it's a usb brick. Otherwise I'd have thought that a possibility. And if the card is the same in another phone then it must be the card.

Minitool is not very good at ext partitions. I'd recommend GParted, though if you have 4Ext recovery you can try that (heck, try 4Ext's usb brick fix - it won't do any harm).

GParted cant see the SD card at all and 4Ext via placing that zip file on the root of the SD doesnt work either.

This is driving me mad I have spent nearly 2 days on this now *sigh*

I have just realised it will mount another SD card but it isnt showing the connect to PC via USB options it used to (though not used to this ROM)

USB unbricking selected. SD can now be partitioned have chosen this roughly:

Swap=0
EXT= 4ext 1GB
Fat32 = Remainder

SD card is now mounted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally managed to install 4ext Recovery and used the USB unbrick option then used it to repartition the SD card. Sadly the ROM I used is rubbish so down the rabbit hole again I go.

opps didn't notice someone had already replied.
