Help sd card wont reformat

i have a droid 2 from verizon and my 8GB sd card somehow got damaged and its telling me i need to reformat it but i press the reformat button but its not reformating. if anyone could tell me how to fix this id appreciate it.
 
you could try formatting it with a desktop computer. Make sure you select FAT32 as the filesystem type.
 
Sounds like the card's hosed. Have you tried putting the card in the phone, then connecting it to the computer in USB mass storage mode, then formatting it through windows explorer?
