Help SD Card

Hello
What exactly can be put on the SD card. All of my apps that I have downloaded will not let me put them on the card. My phone is about 50% full and I haven't even downloaded a lot of apps yet. Are pics and video the only things that can go on the card???

Thanks

You can put some apps on the card. Go into settings/applications and then you can select the app and there will be a button "move to SD"

It does NOT work for all apps.

There is also a cool app called "SD Watch" that simply alerts you when any D/L is movable.

I was just wondering because after several games it would fill up a phone fast if they could not be put on the SD card..

Yes, that is one of the downsides of getting an entry level android phone like the Optimus V. Generally, you get less internal memory and many apps require you to install them on the internal memeory.

Best thing to do is just go into the application manager and move as many as you can to the SD card and store all of your music, video and pics on the SD card. You should be able to get a lot of apps on there anyway.

I have about 25-30 non-stock apps on mine and have 64mb of memory left after moving as many over to SD as I can.

I think it has 150 MB to start with so I'd probably be able to get another 20 apps on there if I wanted. Granted, some games use 10 or more MB but the ones I play generally are under 10mb.

Games use a ton of memory...and resources. If they can't be loaded to the card, the available memory will go fast. This is not a phone made for heavy gaming, much like a PC with limited memory and a Celeron CPU won't game much, either.

I agree, but this phone for the price may have cons, but the good far outweighs the bad,i purchased a PS3 and a 47 inch 1080p samsung LCD TV to play games,a desktop computer to surf the internet and run sofware,a smartphone to be able to make calls, and get info, not play games, angrybirds runs good that is all i need.i am happy that optimus V meets my needs and then some.

Yep...for most people...it is. The Target sale this week makes it even more so, if you can find one.

I keep getting an error message saying that the SD Card is not formatted so I have clicked format and then it gives me an error message saying that the SD Card is Damaged so I bought a new SD Card and it did the exact same thing. Please help

Format the card in your PC, preferably with a program like the official SD card formatter.

SD Formatter 3.0 for SD/SDHC/SDXC - SD Association

Then see if the card(s) work alright in the PC. If they do, then insert them in the phone to see if they are recognized there. If they are, reformat again using the phone's card format option. Recheck if they are recognized. If all is good, then load files onto the card and test to see if they look alright...use some pictures and check via the Gallery app. Use the program SDRescan if needed to be sure they will load.

If you have issues...

Did the card that came with the phone work? If it did, the problem is likely the new card.

Did you buy the card off eBay? There is a ton of fake flash memory on eBay that screws up when you try to use it. There is a program to test cards to see if they are fake:
