Kingston 16GB class 10 (desire will handle it as a class 6) but its "future proof"

If I have a card and made it into a gold and then down the line get another(bigger) card which i want to make into a gold do i then just make a backup and transfer everything to the new one? Is it that simple or do I need to do anything else?
 
Gold card images are specific only to the card you made it for. if you're keeping the old card, just leave that as the gold card and use your new card normally.
 
Ok, am I right in thinking that i need a goldcard to root my phone but after that i can use any other card?
Sorry for being so thick but am only starting to delve deeper into the realm of my smart phone ...

A few months ago I would be sure that I get a Sandisk class 4 with 32GB :)
So I purchased the card from cyberport.de

I have a Class 2 4GB Samsung that came with the phone but thinking of replacing it.

Does a better Class of card make a massive difference in performance?
 
16gb class 4 card off ebay, Sandisk, I think. As has been said, ebay is not to be trusted for such things - I ran a benchmark test on it and it exceeded class 6! :-)

Works just fine. :-)
