Root Sdcard2 Data

Lurker
I am having trouble with the Sdcard storage on rooted Gtab running VEGAn 5.1.1, it seems that Ican place media files on the card, use them for a while, and after power down overnight, all files are gone. the directories still exist, but with zero data in them.

I thought the card was bad so I purchased a new one, formated it in the tablet, powered down the tablet removed card and added files to it from my vista laptop and reinstalled in the tablet.

The files,(videos and music) are available when I power back up initially after mounting the card and will stay on the cards for short power cycles, but the data is lost overnight.

I have also lost the stock backup I made, including the rom files I added when installing clockwork mod, on the device memory.

Is this a problem anyone else is having with this ROM, or do I have a defective tablet?

Yeah its an issue with vegan with the sdcard2 (micro sdcard). To fix it, place a .nomedia file where your media files are. The only draw back in doing that is the stock apps like the gallery won't be able to see those files. However it shouldn't be a problem if you use other apps from the market to view your media.

As for vegan deleting your files in sdcard1, I haven't heard of that problem. The only time I deleted my internal files was when I repartitioned my internal memory but that was my fault.

the .nomedia fix has not worked for me.

neither a .nomedia extension file or .nomedia folder.

video files still get deleted at reboot.

anyone have any other fixes?

Hi brad

.nomedia isn't a file extension. I made my .nomedia file using notepad. Its a blank file and I called it .nomedia. how did you make your .nomedia file?

The .nomedia file is a regular txt file so it should look like .nomedia.txt

I am having this issue as well,is there anyplace with details on exactly where to put this file, and how? I am not sure where my media files are,I think they are in DCIM?

I don't use an SD card but on my USB thumbdrive I have my music in a music folder and my movies in my movies folder. I would create a folder like that in my SD card if I had one. Then I would place a .nomedia file in both folders. DCIM has the pictures I took but I don't really have any files in there.

I'm trying to upload the .nomedia file but the upload failed. Maybe I'll PM it to you two.

Edit: Lol didn't notice you can't attach files on PMs either. Anyways,

You can create .nomedia files by using notepad on your PC.
Open notepad.
Go to file.
Save as.
File name should be .nomedia Hit save.
Take the file and put it in where your music, videos and movies are in your sd card.

Or if you don't have a PC.

Download ES File Manager from the market

Go to where your video or movies folder (whatever you called it)
Hit the menu button
Hit New
Then choose file
Name it .nomedia
A txt file should be created and it's already in the folder where your videos and/or movies are.

thanks xmr. I ended up using Astro File Manager to create a .nomedia folder and put my files in there.

they have been there since I last posted with no issues.
